A Brief History

You can see why we gave our house the nickname "Pillars".
Pillars is found on an 1857 plat map. Abe Lincoln was a practicing attorney in Bloomington around that time. It's been here awhile.

Shortly after moving in we tore those ridiculous columns off to restore some dignity to the aging place. This beautiful hand carved "supra-port" was salvaged. (Look above the pillars in top photo.)
Those ridiculous pillars were the creation of K. Gordon Murray, B-movie producer/director ("Santa Claus vs. The Devil"; "Little Red Riding Hood and the Monsters") who once walked our floors and stored his carnival equipment in the field next to the house.
There is a history of craftsmanship and uniqueness carried forward at The Workshop at Pillars.
